"We're All a Work in Progress"

Why this effort was made

A project to actively involve consumers in the arts was explored and the "First Annual T-shirt Designing Contest" was born.

The resulting product would:

• Actively involve all consumers who wished to participate.
• Produce an art object that would highlight the participants’ creativity.
• Provide a method of asserting the Mental Health Association of Northwestern PA name to the greater community.

The rules and guidelines were established:

• The design was free range, and could be anything.
• Good judgment in design was expected. No vulgarity or distasteful subjects would be allowed.
• The design must be original and not be a copy of another’s design. Copyright infringement would be disallowed.

A total of 22 designs were submitted. The staff members of the Mental Health Association of Northwestern PA reviewed the designs and selected four to be the finalists.

Voting was conducted for consumers to choose their favorite design. The voting was held in the Art and Culture Center at the Mental Health Association of Northwestern PA.

After three days of voting, the members selected "We’re all a work in Progress". Viki submitted this winning design. The winner was awarded a free t-shirt in recognition of her work.

2005 Edition T-Shirts are now available for purchase at the cost of $15.00.

Proceeds benefit the Consumer Activity Fund at the Mental Health Association of Northwestern PA.

Sizes on hand: S, M, L, XL. Sizes 2XL and 3XL are available as special order.
