A Positive and Fulfilling Internship
at the Mental Health Association

I had been searching for a psychology internship for months before I contacted the MHA. I was getting discouraged because many sites were taking graduate students only. MHA gave me a prompt reply saying they were ready to give me an interview. I felt as if they were trying to help me on my journey rather than simply take me on as a worker.

My internship experience was eventful. I got a chance to observe the daily operations here and participate in many of them. In doing so I was able to interact with a lot of great people I would never have been able to meet otherwise. I helped organize events led by the MHA and got to participate in mental health conferences. My intern duties made it easy for me to meet with the staff, members and volunteers, which would have been an overwhelming process otherwise. I was lucky enough to have three others interning alongside me. I think that being able to talk with people in a similar situation as me was good for my personal growth.

The members were often appreciative when I stopped to chat or helped with things like making a resume. If you’re looking for a rewarding experience in the mental health field, doing your placement at the MHA is an excellent choice.

Sincerely,
