Mental Health Association of Northwestern PA

The Internship Experience

Several college seniors from universities within the tri state area have spent a semester at the MHA. Having considered the programs conducted by the local mental health providers within our area, these students have chosen to mentor under the professional staff of the MHA. We are very proud and very fortunate.

It is appropriate that these future leaders recognize the value of examining our numerous groups and educational activities as a component of their education.

While they experience our programs personally and grow professionally, they also contribute substantially to the goal of regaining mental health for all consumers. They bring with them, fresh ideas from the latest academic teachings in our field. This opportunity to combine the newest teachings with real world exposure benefits the intern, this institution and our programs.

We have asked our recent interns to express their impression of their experience with us.

We have posted a few video presentations by interns on our Facebook page. Have a look!

Congratulations to Hannah Coates

Congratulations to Hannah Coates on successfully completing her internship at the Mental Health Association of Northwestern PA. on March 7th, 2014.

Her interaction with the consumers was a valuable learning experience. She leaves with sadness, recognizing that the consumers educated her beyond any of her expectations. Her time at the MHA was positive and rewarding.

Thank you and best wishes on your journey.
